چکیده

The mechanisms of action of mineral phosphate solubilization (MPS) were studied in the wild-type Mps‡ Penicillium rugulosum strain IR94-MF1 and in negative (Mps3) and superpositive (Mps‡‡) mutants derived from it. MPS activities were measured in liquid media using sucrose as C source, four N (arginine, nitrate, nitrate+ammonium and ammonium) and P sources (KH2PO4, hydroxyapatite, FePO4 and AlPO4). Ammonium significantly (P6 0.01) decreased phosphate solubilization, and this activity was 1^66 times higher in the Mps‡‡ mutant than in the wild-type depending on the P and N sources used. The Mps‡ phenotype was strongly associated with the production of gluconic or citric acids. The results also suggest for the MPS3 mutant the involvement of the H‡ pump mechanism in the solubilization of small amounts of phosphates. z 1999 Federation of European Microbiological Societies. Optimum conditions for protein extraction from tuna processing by-products using isoelectric solubilization and precipitation processes

The by-product from tuna processing is a potential source of edible protein. Therefore, it is very important to extract protein from such raw materials for human food. In this study the optimum pH for protein extraction from tuna by-products was optimized by using isoelectric solubilization and precipitation processes. The Response Surface Methodology (RSM) and the single factor model were used...

UV mutagenesis for the overproduction of xylanase from Bacillus mojavensis PTCC 1723 and optimization of the production condition

Objective(s):[p1]  This study highlights xylanase overproduction from Bacillus mojavensis via UV mutagenesis and optimization of the production process. Materials and Methods:Bacillus mojavenis PTCC 1723 underwent UV radiation. Mutants’ primary screening was based on the enhanced Hollow Zone Diameter/ Colony Diameter Ration (H/C ratios) of the colonies in comparison with the wild strain on Xyla...

Biocontrol Activities of Gamma Induced Mutants of Trichoderma harzianum against some Soilborne Fungal Pathogens and their DNA Fingerprinting

Background: Random induced mutation by gamma radiation is one of the genetic manipulation strategies to improve the antagonistic ability of biocontrol agents. Objectives: This study aimed to induce mutants with more sporulation, colonization rate leading to enhanced antagonistic ability (in vitro assay) comparing to wild type (WT) and the assessment of genetic differences (in situ evaluat...

A Study on Neodymium Recovery from Aqueous Solutions for Designing a New Generation of Sandwich Liquid Membrane

Liquid Membrane (LM) based processes, as Supported Liquid Membranes (SLMs), have been proposed, for over 30 years, as effective methods for the selective separation of inorganic/organic species from different water streams. The industrial use of SLMs has been limited mainly by their insufcient stability. To investigate on the main cause of system destabilization and the o...

Insight of Interactions during Uptake and Permeation in Nafi on Ionomer Membrane

The eff ect of pre-treatment on the permeation property of the Nafi on ionomer membrane has been evaluated. The membranes were subjected to diff erent pre-treatment procedures, viz treated with acid at room temperature, boiling with acid or boiling with water followed by cold acid. Diff erent characterization techniques were used to understand the changes. From UV-Visib...
